Marilyn Mattei was named Principal at Prairie View Grade School to start the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Mattei spent 24 years working in School District U-46. She began her career as an English Language Learners teacher and taught elementary and high school for 16 years. She served as an Instructional Coach, High School Dean of Students and Assistant Principal at both the middle school and high school level. She hopes to make a positive impact for the students, community and her colleagues.
Mrs. Mattei was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She then moved to Illinois to continue her education career. Her education resume includes a BA English as a Second Language Secondary Educator from University of Puerto Rico, and Masters degrees from Aurora University in Elementary Education, and Concordia University in Educational Leadership.
She is married with two daughters and she and her family reside in South Elgin. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and being active.
